The 7 Biggest Uncut Diamonds Before The Cut

I was browsing the internet when I saw some big diamonds owned by very highly successful people and corporations, even by royals. These diamonds are placed in very beautiful settings. I checked out my own diamond engagement ring on my finger and smiled. I was bemused as I remembered the day my husband gave it to me on our engagement celebration. I was so happy at that time and I'm still blissfully married to the same loving man. A couple of years later, he unveiled to me that he selected my diamond ring from hundreds of unique diamond engagement rings of many shops. I started to like and treasure the diamond rings and necklaces he gave me and I valued diamonds all the more.

I loved diamonds. It's okay with me to see a diamond with various colors in different settings. It doesn't matter if the stone is set on a charm, a pair of earrings, a ring, or other type of jewellery. I only care bout the diamond's fire, shine, and lustre. I checked the web and read about the seven largest rough diamonds in the world]. The Cullinan diamond is the biggest rough diamond weighing 3,106.75 carats. Thomas Evan Powell discovered the stone in 1905 and referred to it as after Sir Thomas Cullinan, the owner of Premier Mine in South Africa where the stone was found. Cullinan 1 also known as Great Star of Africa and Cullinan II also referred to as Lesser Star of Africa are two of the biggest stones after the Cullinan was cut by Asscher Brothers. The two stones are at present the main components of UK's Crown Jewels.

The second biggest diamond is the Excelsior, which was found in 1893 in Jagersfontein Mine, South Africa, by a miner. Regarded as the largest diamond before the Cullinan, the Excelsior has 970 carats. The third largest rough diamond is the Star of Sierra Leone obtained in February 1972 in the Diminco mine. It is believed that there were 13 flawless diamonds out of the 17 pieces cut from the initial stone. The Star of Sierra Leone is in the kind of a brooch.

The fourth largest rough diamond is the Incomparable Diamond uncovered by a litttle lady in the debris near to the MIBA Diamond Mine which can be found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It weighted some 890 carats in its rough state. The 5th largest diamond is the Great Mogul Diamond, which was found around 1650 in southern India. It has a carat weight of 78.5 carats. The Mogul Diamond was a present to the Emperor of India Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan was the one who constructed the Taj Mahal for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Jean Baptiste Tavernier, a world-renowned jeweller once said that, "The stone is of the same form as if one cut an egg through the middle."

Coming in at sixth place is the Millenium Star, which weighed at 777 carats until the jewellers at Steinmetz Diamond Group cut it. The stone was discovered in Zaire in 1990. Presently, De Beers has the stone. The seventh largest rough diamond is the Golden Jubilee, which weighs at 755.5 carats. It was extracted in South Africal's Premier Mine. These stunning collection of large diamond eternity rings is what I want to see in actuality.
